Smart waste management is efficient!

In this series of articles, we present the experts behind the Europress SMART system and share their thoughts on how intelligent waste management changes the conditions of the circular economy.

In this article we will find out what in practice means reasonable waste management from the point of view of the customer. Europress has invested more than a decade in the development of intelligent waste management in the form of the Europress SMART system. Every member of our sales and service team is trained in the secrets of the SMART system and is supported by our intelligent waste management team. One such specialist is Yoni Tolonen, who develops for customers practical Europress SMART solutions for digital waste management. According to Tolonen, the key benefit for Europress SMART users is that they no longer need to worry about the efficiency of waste management.

«Customers can fully focus on their core business and allow SMART to take care of the optimal operation of waste management equipment», – explains Tolonen.

All Europress waste management devices manufactured since 2011 are intellectually ready, which means that they can be connected to the SMART service, according to Tolonen, «at the click of a button». Europress presses and compactors produced before 2011, as well as devices of other manufacturers, can be equipped with a retrofit accessory that will also allow them to connect to intelligent technologies.

The SMART system is most advantageous for customers who own several waste compactors, which are installed in different locations.

«SMART system is optimal for clients with several points of press placement, because it allows to manage all equipment online in real time», – explains Tolonen.
Europress develops customized service packages for each customer. The SMART expert from Europress provides the client with a proposal on what equipment should be connected to the system, an assessment of the necessary investments, operating costs and potential savings provided by the SMART system.

With a multitude of separate intelligent functions, it is possible to save on operating costs. For example, by optimizing the degree of filling of presses and compactors with waste, the emptying intervals are reduced and as a result equipment is less often disconnected. Transporting full containers with compressed waste also reduces logistics costs.

The SMART system also monitors the state of the equipment. For example, automatic functions help prevent problems such as overflow and clogging. Some maintenance and repairs can even be performed remotely with a single phone call, eliminating the need for the client to wait for the arrival of a service technician in the field.
The SMARTwaste mobile application also eliminates unnecessary visits from the customer’s waste management staff. The application allows them to control, for example, the level of filling of their presses, the intervals of emptying and possible malfunctions. Of course, our service also includes training customers to use SMART tools.
The SMART system collects working data from intelligent waste management devices, allowing Europress specialists to optimize customization for specific customers and equipment. Customers are informed of any changes, but otherwise the service provides them with carefree waste management, as there is no need to worry about every detail.

With a multitude of separate intelligent functions, it is possible to save on operating costs.

SMART service includes so-called tripartite meetings from 2 to 4 times a year between the customer, Europress expert and the waste operator. Together, they can analyze SMART data and results, make decisions based on this data, and discuss the way forward for the service. All this provides the customer with savings of money, time and care for the environment, as well as more effective waste management in general», – Tolonen summarizes.
